Hotshots-Flame Grilled Burger

Hotshots-Flame Grilled Burger

Hotshots-FlameGrilled Burgers is a proud product of Filipino entrepreneurship. The first Hotshots lighted its grill on the 14th December 1999 at a corner parking lot located at Pearl Drive and Amethyst Avenue right across CRC (now UA&P) in Pasig. To date Hotshots branched out 14 more stores in Metro Manila, 2 stores in Baguio City and 6 international stores located in Jakarta, Indonesia and 1 Singapore. Hotshots remind of those old burger drive-ins with carhops on roller skates over the cars with trays piled high with burgers and fries. But fact the first outlet is actually little more than a take out counter with chairs and tables out front. Inside, the air humming with energy and the crew always busy moving to and fro, with the grill resting for a second and the others coming continuously-And when there’s a line for orders, they know that eating is good. Some people even pick up two or three extra to stock in their fridge for those who late night munchies.
Word of mouth quickly spread, Hotshots become the place to go to get the taste of old fashion, home cooked flavor of grilled burgers. Where people can get weekend party grill quality burgers everyday of the week. People from not so nearby even started coming to get a taste.

Watchmen

Zack Snyder's adaptation of the comicbook "Watchmen"

"Watchmen is the kind of comic that comicbook lovers like to share with others. It has a long shelf life compared to collections of the X-men and Spider-man comic books. Demand has been consistent although there's a renewed interest to it because of the movie."

Watchmen starts with the murder of the masked crusader known as the Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The murder sparks an investigation by the vigilante Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) who believes that there is a conspiracy to kill fellow Watchmen Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup), Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson), Ozymandias (Matthew Goode) and Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman). Ultimately, the story shows how superheroes, if they were real, could affect world events and change the course of history.

Watchmen is probably one of the first comicbooks that deemed to show superheroes in a less than flattering light. After all, the Comedian is a rapist and murderer, Rorschach is a borderline sociopath and Silk Spectre is a substance abuser -- traits that you don't normally see in your regular Marvel or DC comic. Watchmen author Alan Moore once said that he hoped to inspire other comicbook authors to make more complex and multilayered comic stories. Instead, Watchmen, along with Frank Miller's equally brilliant The Dark Knight Returns, is credited for inspiring a slew of "dark" superheroes ranging from the gun-toting Punisher to a black-clad Spider-man.
Watched last 17th of March at Mall Of Asia, my comment.. hmm. not bad but not that good.

Filipinos Quickly Embracing Internet

Research: Filipinos quickly, increasingly embracing Internet
By Erwin OlivaINQUIRER.netFirst Posted 16:09:00 08/13/2008

MAKATI City, Philippines -- Filipinos from across income groups are now increasingly embracing the Internet, an executive of market research Synovate said Wednesday.
Presenting results of a recent study on Internet and mobile landscape in the Philippines, Carole Ann Sarthou, managing director of Synovate, said the Filipinos were "quick to adapt to the Internet," and thus presents a lot of marketing opportunities for local companies.
Sarthou was among the speakers at the at the 2nd Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines Summit held at the Hotel Intercontinental in Makati City.

The Synovate study showed an increasing percentage of Filipino users purchasing goods online.
The study involved a sample population of 5,000 respondents picked nationwide. Face-to-face and telephone interviews were conducted from July to December 2007, Sarthou said.
Of the 5,000 respondents, the study found that around 8 to 10 percent have started to do online purchases, she said.

Sarthou said she has been getting feedback about more Filipino Internet users selling goods they buy abroad in their personal websites or blogs.
The study also found that Filipinos access the Internet from home -- for the upscale and older users -- or an Internet café, mostly for younger and lower-income users.
The study noted that Filipino users access the Internet mainly for communication and searching for information. Downloading music, video and other online content also ranks high in the list of what Filipino users are doing online, the study showed.

The study indicated that Filipino users have yet to make headway in e-commerce, as clicking online ads or purchasing goods and services online remain at the bottom of the list, Sarthou said.
After listening to music online, online gaming was also listed as among the top 10 online activities Filipino Internet users.
The study also said that there is a range of information Filipinos search on the Internet, and this varies from music, news, current events, cars and even dining places, Sarthou said.
"From last year to this year, we have seen an increase in the uptake of the Internet," the executive said, noting that local companies this year have also started putting more advertising spend on digital technology and the Internet.

S.I.M.

Despite the spiraling economy and turbulent political situation in the Philippines it is still good to know that there are other sectors that are not averse to crises because they know that on the flip side are opportunities just waiting to be tapped. In this regard, “Smart Internet Merchants, Inc.” (SIM) was able to come up with a perk that will surely alleviate the moods and help Filipinos look on the brighter side of life.
The promo is basically founded on lost and found scheme and was entitled as “Have You Seen My Lost P100 Peso Bill?” duly sponsored by http://www.delivery.ph/ and http://www.kotsemo.com/ respectively. It is so easy to win as long as you are residing within Metro Manila and holding the lucky 100 Peso bill you can instantly be rewarded a brand new Sony PSP.
Details of the mechanics can be viewed at http://www.lostpeso.com/. Accordingly to Mr. Martin Yang, Managing Director of SIM, this was primarily launched to bring cheer to the internet users while strengthening their brand position in the Market. “In the effort we would like to emphasize the essential role of e-commerce in the market positioning and as well as to bring information age to the Filipinos in general, thus, beating the foreigners in their own game”, he finally concluded.
